Goodnight Hugs, in audio for the FABA storyteller
Goodnight Hugs is a FABA sound character: a figure the child places on the speaker that starts the story automatically. No screen, no buttons and no adult needed to press play — which is exactly what hooks little ones and gives them independence.
A story built for the bedtime routine
This character isn’t made for playtime: it’s made for closing the day. The story moves slowly, with no jolts or twists that fire children up, and a soft voice and unhurried pace that go along with the wind-down rather than working against it. It’s the opposite of a screen last thing at night: no blue light, no images to chase and no “just one more episode”.
The real mechanism is repetition. Putting on the same character at the same time every night turns the audio into a cue that bedtime has arrived: the child recognises it, knows what comes next and cooperates far more readily. That habit — always in the same order: pyjamas, teeth, lights down, story — is what carries the wake-to-sleep transition, the point at which most families get stuck. And because the child places the character themselves, the routine stops being an instruction from a grown-up and becomes theirs.
It also works in harmony with the night light and sleep routine built into the FABA+ device itself: warm, soft light, low-volume audio, and a consistent sequence. The result is a complete bedtime ritual that works just as well at Mom’s house, at Grandma’s house, or at a hotel.
What it works on
- Sleep routine and habits: anticipation, sequence, cue that the day is ending.
- Self-regulation: Gradually winding down, without screens.
- Active listening and sustainedauditory attention, without visual cues.
- Nighttime and affectionvocabulary (hug, sleep, calm, tomorrow, going to sleep).
- Independence: the child puts it on and takes it off by themselves.
How to Use It at Home, in the Classroom, or in the Office
At home, it’s always at the end of the routine and at the same time: the story is the last activity, not the first. At preschool, it works very well during nap time and when winding down after recess. In therapy sessions, speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists use it to work on temporal sequences and to give families a concrete tool to help structure bedtime.
How does it work?
Just place the character on the FABA storyteller, and the audio starts playing. This character doesn’t work on its own: You’ll need the FABA speaker, which plays the content. If they share a room or if they have siblings with different schedules, these work really well Dudun children’s headphones with an 85 dB limit, which protect your ears without you having to worry about the volume.
