A paediatric speech therapist doesn’t work standing behind a desk. They sit on the floor, crouch, get covered in play dough and end up with a child on their lap. The classic hospital coat wasn’t designed for that.
Here you’ll find professional workwear chosen with that in mind: comfortable, frequently washable, and looking like a health professional without intimidating a child.
What to look for in paediatric workwear
Freedom of movement
If you can't sit on the floor wearing it, it's no good. That single criterion rules out half of standard healthcare workwear.
Pockets that hold up
You're carrying tissues, stickers, a timer and half a session. Small or badly stitched pockets last a term.
Frequent, hot washing
It gets dirty every day. Fabric that loses colour or shape after ten washes is expensive however little it cost.
Not frightening
Clinical white triggers anxiety in some children before you've begun. Colour and pattern aren't a whim: they're part of the setup.
Who it's for
Speech therapists, occupational therapists, paediatric physiotherapists, language support teachers and early intervention staff. If you also need protective equipment — gloves, clear masks — see hygiene and disinfection.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply centres?
Yes, with an invoice and a quote up front. For whole teams we can adjust sizes and quantities.
Tunic or scrubs?
Scrubs are more comfortable for floor work and easier to launder; a tunic looks more formal and protects clothing better. In paediatric practice, scrubs usually win.
