What it includes
- The book «MYO Solutions – SysteMatic Intervention for Lingual Elevation» by Robyn Merkel-Walsh (in English).
- 2 sets of bite blocks for grading jaw opening.
- Therapy straws, straight and spiral horns and whistles, and nose flutes.
- A bubble tube with solution, a Bite Tube, oral swabs, and sterile tongue depressors.
What is it used for?
TalkTools presents it as an orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) program to bring the tongue up to where it belongs: improving oral resting posture with closed lips and nasal breathing, correcting tongue thrust and swallowing patterns, and supporting speech clarity and lisps. TalkTools recommends it from age 4 and across the lifespan, including patients with orofacial structural differences.
How it is used
The book sets out the intervention in steps: first jaw stability with the bite blocks, then lip and tongue strength and placement with straws and horns, and nasal breathing with the flutes. To add to the materials, the straws of different diameters, the Pre-Hierarchy horn, and the nasal flute are sold separately.
Security
TalkTools asks for all the tools to be used under adult supervision, inspected before every use and thrown away at the first sign of wear. The program is intended to be used under the guidance of a qualified clinician.
More myofunctional material
The rest of the resources for oral habits are in the Harmful habits and generalization category.
Oral Placement Therapy: how the material is organised
That approach shapes the catalogue. The Oral Placement Therapy starter kit brings together the basics to begin with, and from there the work is organised in scales: the Horn Kit blowing kit and the straw kit for children and adults step up in difficulty one level at a time, so progress is observable rather than a matter of impression. For jaw dissociation, bite blocks set and stabilise the opening, and the jaw exerciser works strength and symmetry. On tongue and lips, the lingual pack with lift and lateraliser trains the tip and the lateral edges separately, while the Lip Gym lip weights add load to lip closure.Vibratory stimulation
The vibratory stimulation line stands on its own: you can see it in full at Sensi by Talk Tools, with its handle and interchangeable tips. For sensory work with younger children there is the Jiggler orofacial vibratory animal, and for specific cases the apraxia kit or the teether kit.Why buy Talk Tools at Logopedicum?
