The Little Prince – FABA sound disc
12,40 € (VAT not included)
The Little Prince as a sound disc for the FABA storyteller. Place it on top of the speaker, and the story starts playing: no screens, no menus, and no need for an adult. The poetic, philosophical title in the collection, made for older children (roughly ages 6-10) who can already talk about friendship, loss and what can’t be seen. Requires the FABA storyteller.

The Little Prince, in audio for the FABA storyteller
“The Little Prince ” as a FABA sound disc: a figure the child places on the speaker that starts the story automatically. No screen, no buttons and no adult needed to press play — with the difference that this title is aimed at a slightly older listener.
The one title in the collection you don’t fully understand (which is the point)
Classic tales run on repetition and action; The Little Prince doesn’t. It is a poetic, philosophical textbuilt out of figurative languagethe fox who asks to be tamed, one rose among thousands of identical roses, the sheep inside the box, “what is essential is invisible to the eye”. None of that works literally, and that is precisely its value: it forces the child to step outside literal meaning and interpret a metaphor — one of the latest-developing and hardest language skills to practise with ordinary children’s material.
That’s why we recommend it for older children—roughly ages 6 to 10—and also as a conversation starter in therapy sessions and classrooms: friendship, responsibility, loss, loneliness, and the adult perspective versus the child’s perspective (the hat that’s actually a boa). A 4-year-old will hear it as a lovely story about a planet; an 8-year-old will come away with questions —and questions are a wonderful form of language.
What it works on
- Figurative language and metaphor: reading beyond the literal meaning.
- Inferential comprehension and reasoning about characters’ intentions.
- Abstract vocabulary: friendship, responsibility, absence, essential.
- Advanced conversation: opinion, argument, “What do you think they meant?”
- Sustained active listening, with no visual support and no screens.
Ideas for after listening
- Explain in their own words what “what is essential is invisible to the eye” means.
- Hunt through the story for other lines that “don’t mean what they say”.
- Ask why the prince’s rose is different from every other rose.
How does it work?
Just place the character on the FABA storyteller, and the begins. This character doesn’t work on its own: it needs the FABA speaker, which plays the content. For focused listening — in the car, in a waiting room or at home around other people — the Dudun kids’ headphones with an 85 dB limit are ideal.

If you have children of different ages at home, the collection offers a range of options: Little Red Riding Hood for those just starting out with repetitive dialogue, The Little Mermaid for those who can already handle longer stories, and The Little Prince for the oldest child.
