A nebulizer converts the liquid medication into a very fine mist so that a person can inhale it through a face mask or mouthpiece. Most of the particles nebulized by conventional nebulizers are deposited in the upper respiratory tract, such as the mouth and throat, and very little is deposited in the lungs.
