Description
What it is like
- 60 to 900 L/min scale, suitable for adults and children.
- Green, yellow and red zone markers, set according to each person’s reference value.
- Mouthpiece included; about 19.5 cm long with it and about 85 g.
- Meets ISO 23747 and is CE marked.
How it is used
Standing up, set the pointer to zero, breathe in fully, close your lips around the mouthpiece and blow as hard and fast as you can. The pointer stays at the value reached. Repeat three times and write down the best.
What it is used for
Peak expiratory flow (PEF) is the measure used for asthma self-management: the coloured zones show at a glance whether breathing is at its usual level. In speech therapy and respiratory physiotherapy it records blowing strength and tracks progress in breathing training. For training, there are the spirometer and the pulmonary exerciser; to measure more parameters, the SP-80B handheld spirometer.
Safety
The meter does not replace a doctor’s diagnosis or treatment plan: reference values and zones are set by the professional. It is for personal use; clean it as the manual says and store it dry.
