Description
The Visual Literacy Method is a material specifically designed to work the visual route with children with SEN (Special Educational Needs). The material is presented with a literacy method for children with cognitive deficits or diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), facilitating access to it through the visual route.
This collection is a material to work on reading and writing according to the visual route following a constructivist methodology and using capital letters to facilitate the tasks.
The main objectives of this methodology are the access to reading through the visual route, a synthetic methodology that starts from the word and from a center of interest in each notebook, to the generating words or series of words related to the affective environment and experience of the child and encourages the autonomy of the student.
Each notebook, with different themes, is composed of 25 cards, in addition to the self-evaluation, adhesive sheets, a deck of lexical cards, a two-piece puzzle: image-word and dominoes.
The activities that can be carried out with these notebooks are:
- Presentation of the vocabulary that makes up the notebook.
- Descriptive picture to facilitate oral expression. Contains the vocabulary of the topic in a joint image.
- Word and image association/joining sheets.
- Visual word discrimination worksheets.
- Auditory discrimination cards.
- Cards to classify words according to a semantic field.
- Coloring sheets.
- Worksheets to improve spelling.
- Visual word perception worksheets.
- Pictographic reading cards supported by pictograms and images.
- Syllabic decoding cards.
- Alphabet soup.
- Die-cut or manipulative materials.
- Activity log sheet.
