Description
A cup with handles for stability
Self-feeding is an essential milestone in human development. Children who learn to feed themselves learn to master autonomy, fine motor skills, sensory regulation, and food exploration skills. Having appropriate utensils and tools can help with the transition from caregiver-directed feeding to self-feeding.
The Itsy™ collection from Talk Tools is an inclusive feeding set designed and tested by teams of speech and occupational therapists and their patients. Ideal material for promoting self-feeding, including infants who may have challenges with the transition to self-feeding (i.e. sensory processing, neurological, physical or developmental differences).
The cup is ideal to help children progress from breast/bottle to independent drinking. Its handles for easy gripping and the self-directed straw help to tone muscles, exercise sucking and facilitate the act of independent drinking with an open cup. This set is perfect for practicing oral motor skills with the cup and getting your child to drink independently.
Benefits and features
The Itsy™ cup includes 4 separate components: cup, lid, straw and flange, allowing you to customize the assembly to meet a child’s drinking needs and abilities.
- Cup:design includes regulation of the child’s first sips and double handles promote coordination and bilateral stability. volume markings on the inside. Ergonomically designed angled opening allows for easy drinking without excessive neck extension. Curves channel liquid into the mouth, limiting spills.
