Ya desde la década de los años 80, Profono se constituye como una compañía orientada a ayudar a los logopedas de Brasil velando tanto por su tarea académica como profesional. This fun rhyming story incorporates a wide range of animal sounds to "learn to listen" as we wander the farm in search of Bruno the farmer boy's lost magic ears.
Gorgeously illustrated with an adorable cast of farm characters brimming with humor and personality, this book is ideal for young learners and first listeners, whether for use at home or as a teaching resource for schools, teachers of the deaf, therapists and speech therapists. The book can be used during or in support of speech and auditory verbal therapy sessions to practice a wide range of environmental sounds, to learn the names of animals, and to discuss why different characters react differently and how they feel.
This is an inclusive children's book, with a main character who is deaf, but it is not specifically about hearing loss - as such, it is a fun and engaging story for any child. Bruno, the young farmer in the story, has hearing loss, but, overall, he is just like any other child, having fun on the farm with his animal friends.
However, some deaf awareness messages are subtly integrated into the story, making the book a useful resource for mainstream teachers educating their students about hearing loss. At the same time, the book allows deaf and hard-of-hearing children who use cochlear implants, hearing aids or other assistive listening technology to see themselves represented.
