Description
The Chewy Tube Rehabilitation Kit is a treatment program to develop and/or promote chewing skills. By means of different T-shaped teethers that make it easier to grip, a series of exercises of progressive difficulty are carried out to reinforce the mandibular function necessary for chewing ability. The patient’s progress is documented and recorded at each session.
The Mandible Rehabilitation Kit is indicated to work with patients with the following alterations or characteristics: autism, cleft palate, dyspraxia, Down syndrome, neuromuscular alterations (hypotonia), patients who restart oral intake, delayed development of oral motor function, etc.
- Develop proper chewing and safe swallowing of the food bolus.
- Prevent choking hazard due to airway obstruction.
- Develop motor function to improve oral hygiene (e.g. salivary control).
- Initiate “pre-bite” jaw movement in response to tactile stimulation.
- Automate jaw movements and closing capability.
- Coordinate vertical jaw movement as well as lateral bolus placement.
- Develop symmetrical and repetitive jaw function for chewing solid textures.
- Assist in the transition from enteral to oral feeding.
