Description
A device for oral closure
Oral obturators are used to obturate the mouth and progressively prevent mouth breathing, the cause of various malocclusions and also of relapse after orthodontic treatment. Oral obturators are nothing more than blades that prevent the passage of air through the mouth in mouth breathers with a functional cause.
These devices are appropriately designed to adapt to the arches and act as a foil to intercept mouth breathing. The upper and lower peripheral ridges induce the patient to exercise the lips. It should be taken into account that the obturators will be used as an adjunct in specific respiratory re-education therapies performed by specialized speech therapists.
If desired , they can be used in combination with nasal stimulators to avoid a choking effect on the part of the patient. They should always be used after the physical or organic causes of oral breathing have been eliminated: rhinitis, nasal septum deviation, adenoids or hypertrophic tonsils, as the most frequent causes.
The material used is SEBS (Styrene-Ethylene/Butylene-Styrene).
Available sizes: 1, 2, 3 and 4.
