Open bite

Description

This medical device for open bite allows the following functions in the mouth:

• Stimulate the masticatory muscles by means of the lateral plates, on which the patient will bite. If the masticatory muscles increase in tone, the teeth in the posterior sector of the occlusion are introduced and the posterior vertical dimension of the occlusion will decrease.
• Control the anterior thrust of the tongue by means of the anterior shield of the appliance.

This device is especially indicated for:

• Patients with anterior open bite: with lax masticatory musculature and a protruding tongue between the teeth.
• Patients with lax masticatory musculature (dolichocephalic) with a tendency to long face.

In patients with limited tongue mobility or with the presence of hypertrophic tonsils, it is advisable to resolve these issues first before using the device for better functionality.
