ARK’s proBarbell™ game is a fun and engaging way to work on lip closure and strength, fundamental skills necessary for proper speech and feeding development.
Simulating home-made weights, with the use of tongue depressors and weights added to each end, has been a popular material used in dental practices to perform lip sealing activities for many years. ARK’s proBarbell set offers a fun, high quality update to that oral motor activity that is more attractive, compact and easy to clean.
The set includes two tools:
- The blue bar or weight has the equivalent weight of 113.4 grams at each end.
- The green bar or weight has the equivalent weight of 226.8 grams at each end.
Recommended for use:
Place the flat part of the blue stick between the lips. Instruct the individual to hold it there (using only the lips, without the teeth) to work on lip sealing, lip strength and lip resistance. For more difficulty, use the green bar which is heavier.
Working on lip closure can help improve eating and drinking skills, saliva control, production of bilabial speech sounds and much more.
