Description
Who has eight arms and loves opposites?
Octopus Opie! Children observe and compare various items, identifying their analogies and differences, and place them on the magnetic board. In fact, they associate each item with its own opposite, so they become familiar with various concepts of what are “opposites” and antonyms. Interesting resource to enrich the lexicon and sentence structuring with visual support. It allows working on oral and written language individually or in small groups (presented in English but easily adaptable to other languages).
The concepts to work on are: big/small, wet/dry, asleep/awake, work/play, in/out, open/closed, dirty/clean, night/day, before/after, old/new, empty/full, stop/on, happy/sad, fast/slow, front/back, lost/found, up/down, on/off, sit/stop, up/down, hot/cold, long/short, hard/soft and push pull.
Each set contains 48 magnetic vinyl images (1¾” x 1¾”), color-coded (24 red, 24 blue), so that a red image always has a blue partner image that is its opposite.
