Description
With an oval shape and anterior ridges – upper and lower – the labial stimulator acts at the level of the vestibule fundus on the orbicularis oris muscles. Its stimulation provokes a movement of approximation of the lips which causes the lengthening of the upper lip and the correction of lip incompetence. Indirectly, lip closure exercises promote the repositioning of the tongue backwards.
The use of lip stimulators is indicated in patients with lip incompetence (unsealed lips), with a short upper lip that favors the “gummy smile” and/or with dysfunctional swallowing. Their use is recommended as an adjunct to a specialized speech therapy approach.
The clinical effects of the lip stimulator on the shape and position of the lips are relevant, and its use is indicated both at a functional level and in facial esthetics. This device can be used together with fixed appliances.
Available sizes: 1, 2, 3 and 4.
